Free Email Consultation
I know, I know, emailing is usually free… but I like chatting over email before setting up a phone/zoom meeting. No one wants their time wasted; but I’m game to chat about running and groove if you’re curious. When you want to work, then we can set up some sessions and I’ll start putting playlists together.
Running makes me feel mentally clearer, more resilient, and more comfortable in my body. It doesn’t have to be about speed or distance. You’ll be more likely to keep it up if you genuinely like it and are not in pain while doing it. Being consistent and wanting to keep moving in the long term, that is where the true benefits reside.
about “lady southpaw”
“Lady Southpaw” is a nickname from a boxing class that I attached to my music. You can call me Erin though.
I’d love to be part of your journey through my music, but if you want some extra help, I can be your coach. I am a certified running coach through Road Runner’s Club of America (RRCA.) I’ve been NASM and ACE certified as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor and worked for various gyms in NYC. My degree is in theatre education with a lot of emphasis on creative movement in the classroom and physical theatre trainings (with the SITI Company and the Grotowski Workcenter most notably). Then, I got so into my training for the NYC Marathon, I wrote an entire (fictionalized and set in 70’s CBGB/early punk era New York) concept album about the race called, Marathoners Rocking New York.
My work was included in Christopher McDougall’s Born to Run 2: The Ultimate Training Guide in the chapter called, “Running with Music.” That book along with the original Born to Run and the "Born to Run Coach" Eric Orton's book, Cool Impossible, are very in line with my basic philosophies about the joys of running. I also wrote a song to go with the new book called, “I Was Born To Run Too.”
If you’re not into running, I get it. Running can be hard. We can focus on walking with some music synchronized creative movement and conditioning exercises. You don’t have to “go running” unless you want to. The magic is in the groove. Learn more about the Mission to Groove.
